Today, Tara and I stopped by CenturyCo to decorate my office. You think the rivalry with my neighbor is over the top? Well, when there’s a company-wide competition with some great prizes on the line, I’ve gotta pull out all the stops. Right?

My coworkers will be ill-prepared for the unexpected holiday spirt they’re going to be bombarded with come Monday morning.

And yes, I will be listening to Christmas music pretty much nonstop starting then. What’s your favorite holiday tune? I have a soft spot for traditional classics like “White Christmas” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” sure, but I’ve always been partial to “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses. It may not be traditional, but damn, it’s catchy and I love it.

Still not sure if I’m writing every day this month…

    1. Thank you, Pattie! I’m sure my coworkers will like them, too.

  2. Is it bad that I’m glad there’s a contest? I saw the photos on IG and was a little, “Ummmm, I’ve been working from home a long time, but I do not remember anyone decorating the workplace like that. Is that normal?!”

But if you’re doing it to win a contest, carry on!

    1. Err…even if there wasn’t a contest, I’d be decorating like this. What can I say? I’ve got spirit, yes I do!

  3. That looks awesome! How the heck did you set the paper up for door handle without it getting all wrinkly?

    1. We just cut the paper from the edge to the door handle and then trimmed it so it fit. Worked like a charm!

      1. Genius! Definitely remembering that for the future.

  4. I used to decorate everything that stood still so I completely understand the fervor. Good luck!

    1. Thank you! I was kind of sweating a little after AutumnAshbough’s comment, ha. I think this is a good start, but I’ve already got a bunch more things I’m brining in tomorrow morning to add already!

    1. One of our “14 Days of Quarantine” contests is an elf on the shelf, and yes, we do have one (Denver Broncos’ themed, of course). I’m sure you’ll see him at some point next month. The chair was totally Tara’s idea!

  6. I love all sorts of Christmas songs, but I’ll tell ya which one I loathe: The Christmas Shoes. I feel homicidal when that songs come on. Not very Christmassy of me, huh? Nice office, BTW. I hope you win!

    1. That song is the worst! Last year, I blogged about depressing Christmas songs and mentioned that one. It’s the type of song that makes you hope Santa brings you a long length of hose you can tie to the tailpipe for Christmas! Ho-ho…NO.

  7. Love how festively fabulous your office looks, Mark! I particularly like the brickish-looking paper around your desk and your office door!

    “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”

Love that one too because it reminds me of my father and childhood. I also love “Last Christmas” George Michael, “Wrapped in Red” Kelly Clarkson, and “Merry Christmas Darling” Karen Carpenter.

    1. Thank you, Ron! Those are all great songs, though actually, I’m not familiar with the Kelly Clarkson one. I do like her song “Underneath the Tree” so I’ll have to give that one a listen.

Appreciate you chiming in and I hope your upcoming week is full of bliss!
